C » Cash

Cash forms part of the Deceased's Estate.

It will be found in wallets & purses, under floors, in the pockets of clothes, behind wardrobes and so it will be impotrant to conduct a thorough search of a Deceased's house prior to its sale or transfer or giving up the letting.

You may establish from bank accounts or the pattern of behaviour surrounding the drawing of pensions whether all cash drawn has been used. This may show the residue is being accumulated somewhere.

Years ago holding cash in the house was common practice and may be more common amongst the poorer sections of society.

Insurance policies normally do not cover much cash held at home and the practice should be discouraged if known about. It also attracts the attention of burglars.

A solicitor writing in the Times recently described finding £17,000 in a biscuit barrel and cash in a secret pocket in corsets. So now you know where to look.
