Proving identity is a requirement in opening a bank account, at the Probate Registry and in dealing with selling houses or collecting in assets of the Estate. Here is a list (which is not exhaustive) of the usual forms


Personal Identification, either


  1. Current signed passport or

  2. Current UK driving licence or

  3. Inland Revenue tax notification or

  4. UK armed forces ID card or police warrant card or

  5. Construction industry photo-tax exemption certificate (CIS4/5/6) or

  6. Shotgun certificate or

  7. Benefits book



Evidence of Address, either

  1. Public utility bill (in last 3 months) or

  2. Local authority bill or

  3. Bank or building society statement or credit card statement or

  4. Recent mortgage statement or

  5. Motor insurance certificate or

  6. Council rent card or Council tenancy agreement
