C » Chattels

If the Deceased has given chattels away in their Will, make sure that after death you preserve and protect them and give them without delay to the Beneficiary.

The normal rule (unless stated differently in the Will) is that the expenses of storage, insurance and delivery (post or transport) will be borne by the Beneficiary but in practice small sums will probably be acceptably deducted from the Estate Residue subject to the consent of the Residuary Beneficiaries (those entitled to the remainder of the Estate).

If large and expensive collections are involved there may be a need for insurance which one should request the Beneficiary to arrange as soon as possible.
